Emotions Fuse A Memory

Emotions fuse a memory

Emotions fuse a memory in place. If I said “think of a happy time’, your mind will catalog back through and focus on a particular event. You will then be able to walk me through that memory. That is what makes a wedding so powerful. We, as entertainers have the unique opportunity to help people create memories that they get to treasure forever. You can create joy, excitement, wonder, nostalgia, sentiment, and tears. We are extremely powerful. Do not waste the opportunity to create something special and memorable for your couples and their guests!

You are there to do more than just play music and make some announcements. Get to know your clients. Ask them how they met, fell in love. Ask your bride what she was feeling as her fiance popped the question. Don’t be afraid…Find out what makes them click as a couple. Ask about their family and friends. After all, this is two families who are joining to become one. Use that knowledge to create a positive impact.

A very easy question starts with one word, ‘why?’. This question is not used to criticize, but to understand the deeper reason behind it.  Why was this certain song chosen? Is it important that you light a candle in remembrance? Why did you choose these flowers, this dress, this venue? Once you have gained this knowledge, share it. The guests will develop an ’emotional investment’ in the event. They will understand the personality and style of your couple. They will have more fun and you will too!

Chris and Jenna Osborne Wedding

Chris and Jenna Osborne Wedding

We had a wonderful day celebrating the wedding between Chris and Jenna Osborne. They were married at The Old House Winery in Culpeper, Va. on August 26th, 2017.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day at this 75-acre working vineyard. There is an island in the middle of the pond adjacent to the courtyard. A long dock leads out to the ceremony area. The Old House Winery is unique by offering a lock bridge. New couples attach a padlock to the ropes of the dock and toss the keys in the pond, signifying their ultimate commitment to one another.

Dinner and Dancing

Chris and Jenna’s first dance was magical and the father-daughter dance was emotional, to say the least. Jenna’s step-father included her in everything he did and raised her as his own. It was incredible that is passing that on to Chris’s son. Love runs deep between these two families and it was wonderful to witness.

The food was amazing, desserts were decadent, and the music was hot. Everyone had a great time dancing all night long. Chris and Jenna, we wish you love, luck and happiness as you begin your new lives together!

M & T Events-Bride v. Groom Wedding Thought Process

Bride vs. Groom Thought Process

This is the best explanation for the difference between bride and groom’s wedding preparation. She thinks about way more than the groom ever will. There are a ton of things that she wants to be perfect. The dress, the venue, the flowers, the cake, the food, the entertainment, the weather. She wants to have perfect pictures that she can cherish forever. In other words, she does not want to be embarrassed on the biggest day of her life.
This runs through her mind way before she even walks down the aisle. On the big day, she worries about her hair, nails, makeup and if her bridesmaids will be ready on time. There is no wonder why the stress levels are high.

Calm her fears

Gentleman, please help your partner as much as you can. Reassure her that everything will be fine. Tell her that you love her and you will always be there for her. Tell her that you will be waiting at the altar and you can’t wait to see her walk down the aisle in the gorgeous dress she bought. Ask if there is anything you can do to help and do it enthusiastically. Your dearest will thank you for it!

M & T Events-Love Story

Love Story

Everyone has a story to tell. It defines who we are. It is what creates an emotional connection to each other. Have you ever read a good book or watched a really good movie? If you don’t make an emotional connection with the characters, you won’t care what happens to them. When you care about someone, you feel what they are going through. You worry about them when they face a crisis and cheer for them when they achieve victory.

You are the main character

The same happens with your wedding guests. They want you to have the best. Your guests care enough about you to attend the biggest day of your life. They want to cheer for you. Do you want to show your wedding guests that they are special to you? Let us have the honor of sharing your Love Story. Let your guests know how you met, fell in love and what has led to your special day! Create an emotional connection with your guests and you will have a party that will not be forgotten.

Do you need some help? Contact me at M & T Event Entertainment and I will help you create your own unique love story.

The Top 20 Cake Cutting Songs of 2016

The Top 20 Cake Cutting Songs of 2016

Cutting the cake is a tradition dating way back to Roman times. The guests would break bread over the bride’s head as a symbol of good fortune for the couple. In England, cakes were stacked on top of each other and the couple would have to kiss each other without knocking them down. A successful kiss meant a prosperous life together. Serving cake to one another symbolizes your devotion to taking care of one another.

The tradition has evolved into serving the cake as dessert. Cakes come in all styles, colors, and flavors. Recently though, young couples have deviated from the tradition to offer cupcakes, doughnuts, cheesecake and even pies.

Do what works for you

There is no rule that says you have to do anything traditional in order to have the perfect wedding. My purpose for this post is to provide the most popular song choices if you decided to participate in a cake cutting. The choice to smash each other’s face is yours. Just keep in mind that there are still pictures to take and you don’t want to spend hours cleaning your clothes and re-applying make-up. Just a thought…

Top 10 Questions to Ask Your DJ

Top 10 Questions to Ask Your DJ

Are you concerned that your DJ might not be a professional? Here are 10 questions that are worth asking.

1. Are we guaranteed the DJ of our choice on the day of our event?
A written contract with your specific DJ protects you from unprofessional operators.

2. How many years of experience do you have?
Experience brings knowledge to common problems and situations. Be sure your DJ has experience with your type of event.

3. May we contact your references?
References are a major part of the entertainment business.

4. Do you belong to any professional associations or trade groups?
An involved business person shows a willingness to learn, network and share ideas. Belonging to a professional trade group reflects a caring attitude.

5. Will you allow requests?
Requests should be welcomed. If a song seems inappropriate, a good DJ will ask you for an alternative selection. Professional Deejays use clean edits of any musical requests.

6. How early will you be there to set up your equipment?
An average of 60 minutes should be allowed for set up and sound check. Normally there is no additional charge for this service.

7. How will you be dressed?
Proper attire reflects a positive image to your guests.

8. Are you insured?
Insurance is a part of any legitimate business. Liability and casualty policies protect your guests and the
DJ Company.

9. Do you use professional gear?
Using professional sound equipment helps ensure reliable service and quality presentations.

10. Will you provide an emergency backup system at our event?
Weddings and special events are often a once in a lifetime opportunity. A backup system will protect your investment.

Good luck and enjoy the celebration!!
